I imagine the idea behind this is to use a secondary screen for your weather station.
ACTIVE SKY XP ATIS PC
This tends to get frustrating if you only have one PC monitor when flying or have to switch between two windows.

Down the left-hand side, you are presented with other options and settings that could be condensed into one these are functions like using the ASXP textures, filing bug reports and so on.Īnother issue I have with the UI is that in full screen mode, the UI fills the screen completely so you lose the taskbar. You get a tab bar with five tabs along the top – these allow you to change between weather modes (which I’ll get to later), view the weather map, view the weather conditions at a chosen airport or weather station, set a flight plan, read/listen to the weather briefing, and a weather search function. I found the Active Sky user interface a little congested and not very intuitive. By no means are these volumetric clouds, they are just texture replacements, so you still get the rotating cloud effect, but this does make a big difference to the clouds and realism overall. This isn’t too dissimilar to using the default X-Plane clouds and weather system. I normally get about 40 FPS in the air using the FlightFactor A320 rendering overcast skies with ASXP. Not only do they look great, they are easy on your frame rate too. You set this up on activation, where you’re also prompted with the question ‘would you like to install the ActiveSky weather textures?’ This alone is worth the cash – the upgraded textures for clouds in X-Plane really make an immediate difference. Once all that is done, all you need to do is login to ASXP with your email and password.

Initial installation was quick and easy, the system installs all the necessary files into your X-Plane root folder, including ASConnect – the plugin that allows the system to communicate with your sim.

If you were sat on the fence as to whether you should take the plunge, then I’ll hopefully help you make that decision. I’ve had ASXP for a while now and I would say I have just about mastered the complexity of the system.
ACTIVE SKY XP ATIS SIMULATOR
The add-on is a welcome addition to the default simulator weather and injects a more realistic and exciting feel to flying around the globe. In December of 2018 Active Sky for X-Plane (known as ASXP) was born. HiFi Simulations has been working on bringing their renowned weather engine to X-Plane for about three years. There is no question about the impact of ActiveSky for P3D and how it really brings the weather to life. Don't forget, each reviewer has their own style and thoughts, although they all abide by the Review Guidelines - something I suggest you read.

Since I have no information on this and it would have required serious work on the first entry to that runway I waved that warning. As per our Community Charter, all of our reviews are free from bias, prejudice and favouritism. The CIFP data for the runway start had been pushed approximately 15m to the South. Next time, I will delete the traffic flows completely and redo them to make sure they are correct. The taxiway C was not continuously connected which caused AI to taxi a silly route to 31R. So I checked everything and found an error from the version before my redesign. I was educated in the forum that scenery designers have to take care of this, no matter what they think of the default AI traffic. The changes in LFML were due to a user reporting strange AI behavior. Moreover, the time schedule that avoids German airspace is not reflected yet. I also fixed the use of runway 10 which should not be used for arrival.

The new version requires correct departure frequencies for each flow. Moreover, I had to fix the arrival and departure flows. So I added the ATIS frequency 129.005 as published on Navigraph. The changes in LSZH (after having done the complete airport a month ago) were issued by the new WED 2.0 which allows the frequency spacing. I did it in LH livery being to lazy to select something more realistic. Since I did some fixes on my gateway versions for both airports, LSZH Zürich Kloten and LFML Marseille, and since FlightFactor recently published a new version of the Airbus A320 I had to take a flight between the airports.
